Wednesday Shorter Walk

Grade: Moderate

Mileage: 9 miles

Leader: Marie Critchley

Public Transport: 9.58 train Victoria to Hebden, 11.10 B3 bus to Haworth (late return). If this train is cut, the 10.16 will still get us to Hebden in time for the bus. Note: The train time differs from that shown in the printed programme.

Route: The whole walk is about 9 miles but Marie will point out various cut offs into Howarth to give us time to explore the village. The last one will be at the 7.5 mile mark. The bus run over the moors is really beautiful and the walk similar to the highly regarded Walkaday visit. The return will be later than usual but there are frequent buses back to Hebden for those who wish to get back earlier.

New! Saddleworth Rambler Bus Service

An hourly minibus service that runs from Greenfield Station to Denshaw via Uppermill, Diggle, Dobcross and Delph and opens up this area to walkers who prefer to use public transport. The journey takes about 25 minutes end-to-end and is tied in with the train times. It can also be used to interchange with the 184 and 350 buses for people coming from Oldham or Ashton. For live departures and timetable, see the Transport section of Links.
