Chinley to New Mills (was to Hayfield, and leader is now John)

Sunday Walk

Grade: Moderate

Mileage: 11 miles

Ascent: We climb continuously to South Head (1480 ft). Thereafter it's downhill to Hayfield then flat along the Sett Valley Trail (an old railway line).

Leader: John Nicholson

Public Transport: 9.31 train Piccadilly.

Suggested Ticket: Day Return to Chinley, OR a Wayfarer ticket (an all-day ticket that covers all journeys by tram, train and bus in Greater Manchester and the Peak District).

Meeting Point(s): At the entrance of the platform of the departing train at Piccadilly station, and at Chinley station at 10.07. The walk starts at Chinley station at 10.07, straight after the arrival of the train.

Route: Chinley - Breckhead- Shireoaks - South Head - Highgate Head - Hayfield- Sett Valley Trail - New Mills. Expected time back in New Mills - no later than 5.00 pm.
